First Rung helps launch two new businesses

Spring is a time for growth, not only in the natural world but also in our local small business economy.

In March and April, respectively, First Rung made loans to Jerry “Jay” Johnson, Jr. at Freschi’s Foods in Beaufort and to Carra Christensen at CNC Uniforms in Morehead City.

Both entrepreneurs were referred through the Small Business Center at Carteret Community College.

Johnson and Christensen have nurtured their dreams of owning their own businesses for many years, taking their individual professional experience working in the food industry and hospital settings and now devoting their skills to new enterprises.

While Freschi’s aims to open soon, CNC Uniforms is already operational. These two entrepreneurs will be honored, along with Amber DiCostanzo of Marmalade Café and Bakery, at an invitation-only dinner in May.
